The Island of Tasmania

A world apart in every sense, Tasmania is Australia’s only island state, and the very isolation that once made it an ideal location for penal settlements now helps preserve its natural riches. Tasmania would seem to have it all, from history and wilderness to friendly people and great food and wines.

Tasmania certainly seems to move at a much slower pace than the mainland, affording visitors the time and space to relax. Over 360 km (224 mi) long and 306 km (190 mi) wide, it’s big enough to allow you to head for the hills on the back roads and escape everyday life. Along the way are magnificent peaks, old colonial settlements and empty beaches. It also purports to have some of the cleanest air in the world.

The first European to sight Tasmania was the Dutch navigator Abel Tasman in 1642, and from then on many explorers came this way, including James Cook and William Bligh. But the arrival of these men was bad news for the Tasmanian Aborigines. They lost their traditional hunting grounds and sometimes their lives, and were resettled to Flinders Island to be “civilized”. Many Aboriginal sites are sacred, but on the cliffs around Woolnorth can be seen some of their unique art.

Corners of Tasmania are often likened to the green pastures of England, but here there are also vast wildernesses: the west is wild and untamed, inland are glacial mountains and roaring rivers.

For the less adventurous, there is the cosmopolitan capital Hobart, spread out over seven hills and with a waterfront location to match Sydney’s. In the heart of the countryside lies sleepy old Richmond with some of Australia’s finest and most pristine colonial architecture it’s now a Mecca for artists and artisans.

Tasmania is often overlooked by tourists to Australia. Yet this discreet island, roughly the size of Ireland, is both gentle and wild, charming and challenging.

Review of the Xerox Phaser 6130 Color Network Printer

The Phaser 6130 is a color laser printer designed for small workgroups or personal office use . At $449, the Phaser 6130 is a bargain . At just 37 pounds and 15.3 inches high by 15.8 inches wide by 15.5 inches deep , the Phaser 6130 is unusually compact for a color laser . Even though it is smaller than most printers in its class , the Phaser 6130 may still a little too big to set on top of a desk.

An important component of any color laser is not just the initial cost , but how much the ink or toner costs . The 6130 toner cartridges are rather expensive. You can save a lot by buying generic toner . We did our tests on the 6130 using Phaser 6130 toner cartridges

Configuring the 6130 is easy even for a novice . Since the 6130 is relatively small compared to many laser printers , you should be able to set up this device without assistance . Just snap the toner cartridges in place. Then all you have to do is connect it to your computer , power it up, and install the driver from the included CD.

The installation of networking with the 6130 is also a snap . Complete network installation took no time at all.

The printing speed of the 6130 over a ethernet connection was no better than other printers in this class. It took nearly half a minute to print a single-page Word document, about a minute to print a 10-page document , just under 2 and a half minutes to print a full color photo , and about a minute to print a 4 page PDF file .

One of the Phaser 6130′s issues is that if the printer driver is set for color, the printer will always print in the 12-ppm color mode even if all you’re printing is black-and-white text. If it’s set for black and white, it will print at 16 ppm, but it will print everything, including color documents, in black and white. I’d expect most people will simply leave the printer in the default color mode instead of checking the setting each time. I ran all my tests based on that assumption.

The Xerox 6130 was also mediocre in terms of quality . Most reviewers gave the 6130′s color-photo printing a 5 out of 10 rating because colors seemed faint compared to the original photo. In all other graphic tests , the Phaser 6130 scored above average . The color ratings were the same whether we used the included OEM toner or in a machine where we installed replacement Phaser 6130 color cartridges .

The only outstanding printing feature was the crisp grayscale text the Phaser 6130 produced. Ultimately, the Phaser 6130 printer handles any text you give it and text quality was above average . Printed text was easy to read and well formed as low as 4 points. Most fonts needed no more than 6 points to be perfectly legible . Even a very fancy font that most printers have trouble printing at sizes below 20 points printed legibly at 12 points. We had no trouble producing the same textual clarity with the compatible Phaser 6130 high yield black toner .

We especially liked the Xerox Phaser 6130 as a smart choice for the budget-conscious , since it provides business class quality at an affordable price. It is priced low in its category and prints average to above average quality . Unless you are trying to print high-quality full color graphics on a large scale, the 6130 should meet most of your needs .

So Are You in the Zone (Diet that is)?

What is the Zone Diet (and some more tid-bits).

Did you know that the word ‘diet’ is actually a Greek word? YES! It means “way of life”. This diet give you the ability to control your genes. Huh? Okay, it will be explained. Because of this ability, you will feel your energy soar. Not only that, it eliminates your hunger and helps you to lose weight as well. You are the one that has the ultimate control over your wellness with the Zone Diet.

The main purpose for this diet is to maintain and balance out your hormones. It consists of low fat protein, low glycemic load carbs. These are carbs that are from fruits and vegetables. This diet helps to fight hunger and those cravings. It balances all of the essentials that your body needs. You basically consume in moderation carbohydrates, protein and then, of course, there are fats.

An even more in depth look is into what we need and what they mean. Insulin is something that our body uses to store hormones. storing too much is really bad for you, however, it is necessary to have some in your diet. There is another hormone that enables the body to release carbs and stabilizes blood sugar levels. This element is essential for mental and physical abilities. There is another hormone that controls the silent inflammation that is triggered by the insulin. The goal is to maintain and balance your hormones.

What makes People Chose Zone?

There may be more to it than merely losing weight. Some people may want to go on the diet so that they can maintain their health on a regular basis. There are a few good reasons why people chose to stay on this diet. There are positive reasons to keep to this diet because it balances many things including your mentality and fertility. It is in the hormones that seem to make our bodies function. Well, if that alone is not enough to convince you to become a Zone Dieter, maybe you can gain inspiration from famous people like Jennifer Aniston, Cindy Crawford, Tiger Woods, Renee Zellwenger and even Tom Cruise. They have all faithfully followed this trendy diet.

There is Always Going to be the Pros and the Cons in Any Diet.

A major con if that the Food and Drug Administration does not condone this diet. They are not for it because of the fact that the diet is high in protein and there is a lack of the nutrients that our bodies need. No to mention very few studies have been conducted on the long term effects of the diet. Because of the criticism from the dieters who like to eat just vegetables and vegan eaters who rely on only vegetables on a daily basis, the Zone diet can be supplemented with soy protein to accommodate our vegan friends.

As with any diet, you will have to actually take part in it to see whether or not it is the right diet for you. It is highly recommended that you consult with your doctor before trying any diet. Doctors know your body even better then you do. They will definitely know whether or not this is the right diet for you. As far as results are concerned, there is only one way that you will know for sure and that is to TRY IT for yourself!

There will always be critics but the ultimate test is what works for you. You will know this by trying the diet. Hey, if it worked for one of the fattest men in the world (who topped 1200 pounds), it may very well work for you as well. This man seems to be healthy but he cannot do normal activities because of his weight. He is on this diet and it seems to be working well for him. It is not always about appetite control but more about keeping your food cravings and hunger down to a bare minimum. Not all diets are for everyone but as it was mentioned earlier, there is no way of knowing until we try them for ourselves.

The master mind behind the diet, Dr. Sears, strives to work with each patient. He teamed up with Mexican doctors to aid in helping the obese patient. He has books written to help guide you. Each patient has his or her own individual needs and must being willing to try to lose weight and maintain it by following instructions. Reading about a diet will sometimes let us know whether or not it is for us as well.
