Planning a gay holiday to Barcelona, Spain is becoming easier today as Barcelona that has always enjoyed a reputation for being a vibrant as well as gay oriented city has much to offer to everyone including to gays. There are in fact certain parts of Barcelona that attract many gays but the people of Barcelona are open-minded and so gays are accepted in all parts of the city.

In fact a few parts of Barcelona have a decided gay slant to them though the population of Barcelona is quite liberal and will not be harsh or difficult on gays.

Eixample is the name of this gay part of the city and it is affectionately also called gayxample. This particular area in Barcelona is certainly the heart of gay-oriented Barcelona even though there are also many straights that live in this part.

However, there is no denying the fact that Eixample is very pretty and modern and it is also one of the trendiest parts of the city that is home to many an exciting gay club and bar and you can easily find gay accommodation here.

Eixample is not just a gay dive because it is in fact a very beautiful part of Barcelona and you will find modern accommodations and the area is also very trendy. Another wonderful gay area that however not part of Barcelona is is the town called Sitges that is not very far from the city and it can easily be reached by taking a train.

Barcelona offers very good accommodation for gays and this means that you can find a gay flat or even gay apartment for rent while for those who want to find something cheaper there are gay hostels that offer good accommodation. And, there is also more than just great gay accommodation because Barcelona also provides a very lively gay club scene. Of course, most gays find what they are looking for in Eixample which is situated a little bit to the north of the city’s center.

Sitges may not be part of Barcelona but it is quite close to the city and is a wonderful alternative to living in Barcelona’s Eixample. The beaches in particular have a lot of gays here and in fact they account for 30 percent of the entire tourist population in this part of the world.

To sum up, there is a wealth of gay oriented places in and around Barcelona and there is also the excellent and interesting annual film festival catering solely to the gay community (Gay and Lesbian film festival) that is held in Barcelona each year in the month of October.
