We recently booked our flights to Amsterdam. Yes, Amsterdam! We were on our way to my brother’s wedding and were so thrilled and looking forward to it. Initially, we battled to locate suitable flights, but we later discovered that it was because we did not know where to look! There are so many tour deals and offers available; we did not know which to pick. We thought we would limit our options by taking a look at what we wanted and what we preferred. We looked at the time and date we wanted to fly, how much we planned to spend and what type of flight comfort we’d prefer. We then sought out flights that included those specifics and chose the one most suited to our needs.
Amsterdam is an amazing place. Not only did we enjoy a beautiful wedding ceremony, we also experienced the very best of it by visiting its several attractions. It has a broad variety of recreational scenery that ranged from intriguing old buildings to oddities like the Hash Marihuana Museum. Museums are the main tourist attractions in Amsterdam. Everybody knows the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum, but there are a lot more to check out. Amsterdam has over fifty museums which draws in millions of travelers each year. We decided to look for the different tourist attractions in Amsterdam after booking our flights to Amsterdam: we wanted to be well prepared when we got there. We wanted to know where to go, which sites to see and what not. Our travel agent helped us to arrange a tour guide that could take us to the tourist attractions. She met us at the airport.
Our very first stop was the famous Oude Kerk. This old church with small houses clinging to its sides remains a relaxed heaven in the middle of the Red Light District. Its structures, especially the Gothic-renaissance style octagonal bell tower was an amazing site to see. It is not just beautiful, but it also has a tale to tell, since most of the tourist sites around the globe. The church was an ideal object to test my new Diana F+ Lomography camera on. The photos came out amazing.
Dam Square was probably my most favourite site of the whole of Amsterdam, not due to its attractiveness, but due to its historical past. The dam is the very centre of Amsterdam and is referred to as heart of it. Although there are more attractive scenery within the city, the Dam is among the most fascinating due to its historical past. The Dam has seen several historical dramas unfold throughout the years and was, for example, the reception area for Napoleon and his troops during the 1808 take-over of the city. The Koninklijk Paleis, or Royal Palace which dominates the square, was originally used as the town hall and its classical fa§ade and fine sculptures were designed to glorify the city of Amsterdam and its government. As opposed to its violent history, the square is currently a tranquil place and is home to hundred of pigeons, whom I managed to get wonderful shots of with my new camera.
While in Amsterdam, we also visited Bergijnhof, the Canals, Magare Brug, the Jordaan, Rembrandtplein, Leidseplein as well as the Amsterdam Windmills. The easiest part of the whole trip was, undoubtedly, booking our flights to Amsterdam. But the rest was remarkable: something we will treasure always.
